Most of the children the Dumas encountered wanted to know about camels. The children thought that they kept camels at their home and used them as a travel source, but it wasn’t the case. The Dumas would give them disappointed answers like “I’ve never seen a camel in my entire life” or “We drive a Chevrolet around, not camels” [Dumas 5]. Americans and Iranians really are very similar, even if they live thousands of miles away from each other. They’re civilized human beings just like anyone else on Earth. They may not be the same color, speak the same language, or live on the same continent, but they’re very much the same as us. The Dumas were asked so many questions about where they live, but the Dumas didn’t really ask many questions about the American children’s lives. They were asked about electricity, tents, and the Sahara desert. However, the Americans were disappointed by that yet again. Even if Americans don’t understand another person or their country, they still accept them and treat them like family. Americans can be really understanding and they can also be extremely against the entire idea of someone coming to their country and living
