Drug Smuggling In The United States

When Americans think of the United States southern border they believe its rife with illegal activities primary done by illegal immigrants. In reality most illegal crimes such as drug smuggling are being committed by United State citizens. This information that Americans were mainly transporting drugs over the border was widely unknown to the public particularly when authorities mainstream foreign suspects especially from Mexico. For this reason, it appears the border is not secure and gives a false assessment of the truth about how narcotics are entering the country. Nearly all of these drug bust are taking place at immigration checkpoint near or around the Mexican border. The responsibility of the border patrol does not only involve cars and trucks but all forms of transportation such as freight trains that are entering the United States. With the more intense work of the border Patrol and man power more people are being caught, which is strikingly US citizens.
So why are US citizens getting involved with Mexican cartels and risking jail time to transport drugs? Well many people have their own reasons to turn to drug trafficking, out of money, desperation, or many other factors.
