Personally, I agree with what the supporters have to say because it seems that the methods that the critics are using has not really had a huge effect on the state of drug control. Some examples of this are "an average 78 Americans dying each day from overdoses of prescription opioid painkillers and heroin", resources stating that the drugs have now started to make a problem in the suburbia and rural areas, and the death toll from heroin has been tripled since 2010 (War on Drugs 1). To finally solve this problem, supporters have come up with new strategies that could help. For example, a strategy that has been used in Europe and considerately lowered overdoses and deaths is "supervised injection facilities, where an addict can bring heroin and inject it in a clean, safe environment under medical supervision, with easy access to counselors and treatment” (War on Drugs). Another thing that the supporters have is that many people would rather see others that have been involved with drugs to be under treatment for their problem instead of spending time in jail for a nonviolent crime (if the case wasn’t nonviolent, the outcome would be different). The way that the treatment works is that the person would first start in a clinic, then move onto someone else that has experience in the medical field like a family doctor, counselor near their living situation. This strategy has been set in motion along with making Naloxone (overdose-reversal drug) legal and over the
