Up until recently the American Culture had a phrase that was commonly used within the average family, which was “have one more drink for the road.” It has only been within the past 20 years that The United States had really considered the safely risk that Americans now take while driving. For instance, after a good night of drinking with friends it’s easy to perceive that you are fully capable to drive home but, you are more likely to cause harm to other drivers. According to the NSDDAB (National Survey of Drinking and Driving Attitudes and Behavior) states that “those who drink and drive impact only those least likely to drink and drive.” (Goodfellow, Marianne) Drinking reduces the concentration and reactions to sudden hazards in the road, which can lead to fatal accidents or severe injuries to yourself and others.

Many people say that deciding who is at fault is hard to judge when an individual didn’t see the accident. Police are trained enough to determine by the angle, position and certain damages to the vehicle that reflect the contrasting stories of both parties. If by any chance that one of the parties in the accident was under the influence, that individual will automatically be at fault. There can be many charges that can lead to an accident some can just include; suspended license, expired registration, failure of whatever the cause was in the accident, Driving while under the influence and reckless driving that are related to a possible DUI. Like always there is jail time for the subject and can extend out to two years if it’s their first time offense.
