Seuss’s cartoons also helped shape public opinion, his cartoons where so informative that it gave the people insight to the historical events during the time. Although he expressed how he felt about the situation throughout his cartoons he wanted to be clear of what was going on so the public could have their opinion towards the situation. His cartoons were informative but it was up to you on how you read them. In his cartoons “ He bluntly criticized isolationist who opposed American entry into the war and who turned a blind eye to the rise of fascism and the Holocaust, especially the famed aviator (and Hitler booster) Charles Lindbergh and right –wing radio priest Father Charles Coughlin both of whom were anti-Semites and Senator Gerald Nye of North Dakota, an isolationist leader.”(Dreier, Peter. In Seuss’s cartoons not only did he draw about the war that was going on in other parts of the world but also how America is also facing its out war at home amongst each other. “He used his cartoons to challenge racism at home against Jews and blacks, union busting, and corporate greed, which he thought divided the county and hurt the war effort.” (Dreier, Peter. Seuss political cartoons had such an impact on all over America because of his stance and the way he viewed the war. Being German himself he was opposed to what Adolf Hitler was doing. Throughout his political cartoons he drew a lot about Hitler. He was also had a big hatred toward the Japanese after the bombing in Pearl Harbor. Seuss knew how to express how he felt through his cartoons and those who felt the same could agree with his drawings. His drawing during the nineteen century were so important to everyone in the time because it helped with their opinion. It also help inform the public in direct ways a newspaper couldn’t. Not only was Dr. Seuss political cartoons so impactful but he decided to carry on his work through children book where he expands the imagination of children and encouraged them of self-worth and to make the world a better a suitable place to live
