In summary of part two of reading many things happened. The reading starts off with the group Doctor Schultz organized surrendering and being imprisoned. A couple of days later the English agreed to the need of their being a provisional government and Louis Riel was made president. Later in the reading it was shown that Schultz had escaped out of prison with the help of his wife. When Riel heard about the disapearence of Schultz he was furious.…
Genomics and gene testing, less invasive treatments, 3-D printing, electronic records, etc. are among the few new uses of technology that is changing the way patients are being cared for (Huston, 2013). Due to the major workforce shortage the use of robotics has become a notion that most facilities are utilizing (Huston, 2013). The growing elderly population, and an expectation in a higher quality of care has enabled the use of robotics to be more than efficient in all practices (Huston,…

The medical field in 2010 was heavily debating if robotic surgery was “an innovative technique with wide applications or mainly a marketing ploy to attract patients? Or does the truth lie somewhere between these views?” (Robotics). The authors agreed with one side of the debate and effectively backed up their stance, that robotic surgery is “mainly a marketing ploy to attract patients,” with surgical, robotic and procedure data that matched that of many hospitals in the United States at the time the article was written. These stats included “The number of robotic-assisted procedures that are preformed worldwide has nearly tripled since 2007, from 80,000 to 205,000” this line of thinking agreed with many doctors in 2010.…
Me: And how would you feel if you nursing assistant was a robot instead of a human being? Mrs. Ericka Lowery: Honestly, it wild be different but if they're making these robots accurate it wouldn’t matter. That's something you just have to get used too. I'm pretty sure with all this technology out here they wil be able to to make a robotic identical to an actual nurse.…
“I am well aware that this surgery is very experimental but you can be assured that my residents wouldn’t recommend it if it wasn’t the safest option” The Chief explained softly. The ever present pitter patter of Seattle rain was descending on Seattle General Hospital as he uttered the last words. “So let me get this straight, you’re going to let a robot-” Mila began before being cut off. At the young age of 16, brain surgery shouldn’t be one of her problems. “Not any robot, a robot that was made specifically to perform a perfect frontal lobe resection.…
Leading such a clinic has shown me first-hand how patients are more than just number and statistics but rather individuals who are unique and require treatment in a unique manner rather than being processed. The clinic has taught me to adjust to the unique individuals and provide them the proper information and care that is as unique as the patient. The clinics environment also taught me to be a better listener. Through the immense number of dialogue that I have translated in a situation where many are conversing, I became a better listener. I also through helping such a vast number of individuals, I was also able to form an environment that promotes a sense of security and trust that allows the patient to open up so the caregivers can provide the proper care and information to promote their health.…
The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is currently working on some programs and events that are designed to serve our community. On one hand, AMSA convention and exposition that brings medical and premedical students together from all over the world. This convention is a perfect opportunity for building skills, networking, and exploring new ideas. On the other hand, AMSA conferences that aim to investigate current issues in medicine. These conferences are great chances to build clinical skills and connecting with peers.…
Approved by FDA in 2000 after being successfully shown to be effective in prostate cancer treatment. These robots are currently leading the era of robot assisted surgeries. [1] The robot has three main constitute components, a cart, holding light sources and cameras, called as vision cart, a chair like cart where the surgeon sits technically called as master console and a last cart where the arms of instrument and camera are placed, called as moveable cart. As there are two cameras being used to generated the image so the image generated is 3 dimensional. Master console, the cart where the surgeon sits, is equipped with a computer system that converts images into in depth 3 dimensional images and controllers through which the surgeon controls the arms of robot and camera focus etc.…
I always aimed to involve elders of the community when creating awareness. I would do my best to organise specialist care using telehealth to avoid removal of patients from their community which resulted in better follow up. Understanding the kindship system, I was able to use family members to help address changes in the system. I would organise, where possible, a female health care professional when a patient required assistance with women’s business. This has greatly improved my practice when…
This allows patients to be more active regarding their health and it will allow them to connect with physicians as needed. In addition, it will allow physicians to keep a tab on these patients and allow both patients and physicians to see changes in their…
Remote surgery is a procedure used to do surgery using extremely little tools attached to a robotic arm and the surgeon controls the robotic arm with a computer. NASA played a huge part in the advancement of remote surgery. Researchers at NASA began working on an idea called telesurgery which combined reality, robots, and medicine. In the 1900’s the scientists from NASA joined the Stanford Research Institute to develop a telemanipulator for hand surgery for the very first time in history.…
Informative Speech Video Assessment. The content in the speaker’s introduction was good in the following aspects. First, it ideally described the challenging work of a surgeon, in doing a kidney transplant. Secondly, It painted a picture of how the medical robot can be a great step forward in modern medicine.…
This was also highlighted in PDP 1:1 as an area that needed development at the start of module 1. It is useful having the time to reflect and evaluate on areas of weaknesses and strengths as it provides a goal to work towards. One goal decided upon was communicating with patients with a more confident approach. In order to achieve this the student had to stop building barriers and develop interpersonal skills; this is one of the main factors identified by the Department Of…
