Such as a time when he was in ninth grade. He had an argument with his friend Bob. With his terrible temper acting up here and there, he pulled out his camping knife and aimed at Bob’s stomach, but it hit his belt buckle instead. The fact that he almost killed his friend caused him to be embarrassed for doing such a careless act. He locked himself in the bathroom and asked God to take away his terrible temper that would keep him from being successful. He read from the book of Proverbs 16:32, “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” That line affected him deeply, and he felt cured of his bad temper. Another turning point in Dr. Carson’s life was about the 11th grade when he realized he wasn’t dumb and decided to get serious about his education and future.
