Double Check Reflection

Decent Essays
My goal for this week was to double check my work in class. I planned on achieving this by double checking the instructions before starting and reviewing my work once i finished If i thought i was wrong, or if i was having trouble i would ask the teacher. There was no difficulty as I there were very few assignments handed out this week. This being because i finished all of the assigned projects in Mr. Laporta’s class(BTT101) the previous week, the woodworking class hardly ever assigning paperwork and Mrs. Falsica’s class (SNC101) giving ample time to finish basic paperwork. I applied the above methods to finish the paperwork in SNC 101.

These parts were significant because it taught me that in order to understand college, I had to learn what it was.…

On the Tuesday of presentation week, we began compiling our final presentation. We decided to piece together the final product on my school account. Both Josefeth and Reyna had sent me their work, and the only part of the assignment missing was Kevin's, who had not shown up to class. When we asked Kevin for his part of the presentation, he gave numerous excuses for not having completed any of his assigned work. Because we were all going to suffer as a result of his decision to not do any work, I took it upon myself to complete his entire section of…

The first day of English 101 I was unsure what to expect. As a running start student, college was foreign and daunting. Over the quarter, this definitely changed as I became more comfortable with the college environment and assignments. My worries for this class quickly dissipated over the first week or so once I knew it wasn’t that drastic a change. After receiving the assignment calendar, I felt ready for the classwork.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

Before taking SGST 200 class, I had a very narrow view of sexualities and gender’s problems, but I was fine with that for such a long time. Even when I decide to take this class, I wasn’t expecting to change or have a whole new view of problems like racism, sexism, and homophobia. In SGST200, I learned that there is nothing wrong with being different from others, we should be proud of ourselves and be respectful to others. We can’t change the biological diversity; everyone is different since they are born and they have rights to choose what they want to be.…

Today at Simulation Lab I performed health history on a patient. Firstly, I commenced by preparing myself for the interview. Although I was nervous, as a nurse I had to be confident and prepare myself mentally and kept an open mind to meet the patient. In addition to preparing myself, I prepared the environment, making sure seating and arrangement was in place and the room was comfortable and private. Having done this, I utilized Florence Nightingale’s theory of environmental need.…

The lessons the workshop taught the children that went through it was invaluable. We hope that we as adults show our children learn from us the mistakes of the past and treat people equally. A lot of times unfortunately people have stigmata’s either put on them by society because of how they look or they put them on themselves and people treat them differently. The lessons that this workshop teaches are lessons that everyone should have. You can spend our entire life trying to instill the values in your children that this class does in two days, and I want my children to be kind to people as we all do; I do not want them to ALIENATE someone because they are not the same as them, different ETHNITICIY or part of a MINORITY GROUP.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…

Having the opportunity to talk with Anne was amazing, she has such an immense insight into the special education system especially with Anne going through the system as a student herself. During the interview, we were able to gain a unique perspective on the education system while asking our questions. Anne was able to explain the difficulties going through school, although we, as future special educators, have worked with these students and have heard the horror stories of how peers act in school it was completely different to hear these stories first hand. She told her story going through school and how she was bullied because of her differences with her classmates and how they made her feel in school. Having negative experiences with her…
