Donald Trumps Summary

This cartoon illustrates how the rights and freedom of secret service agencies, specifically the FBI, CIA, and NSA have been undermined by President Donald Trump. The cartoon specifically targets the events that transpired on May 9, 2017 when F.B.I director James Corney got fired for being unwilling to comply to President Trumps multiple requests to stop the investigation on his relationship with Russia. Contrary to the Liberal ideology of independence and freedom, Donald Trump has and is being displayed as taking those things away from the directors of secret service organizations. For instance, the caption “let me assure you, nobody respects the independence of our intelligence agencies like I do. I have the best respect”, illustrates Trumps

Political journalist, Fred Barnes, in his journal, “Trump Gains When He Stays in the Background”, analyzes Trump’s pattern to gaining in the polls. Barnes’ purpose is to indicate what causes Trump to fall behind Clinton in the polls and then how he redeems himself to get ahead of her again. He adopts an unbiased tone in order to appeal to both sides in his adult readers. Barnes’ uses dashes, talks about how Trump falls behind and gets back up again in each paragraph in order to illustrate what pattern could help Trump win the presidency over Clinton, and uses syntax. Barnes begins his writing by acknowledging that when Trump is in the spotlight of the media, he falls behind in the polls and it’s when he stays in the background that he pulls through it.…

    Blown To Bits Summary

Hal Abelson, Ken Ledeen, and Harry Lewis use their fourth chapter of their book Blown to Bits to discuss search engines. They describe how search engines work, and the possible problems that they could have. As was the case with the third chapter of Blown to Bits, I enjoyed reading this chapter. I felt that this chapter was not written to condemn technology, but rather to inform people about something that has become a vital element of human society. I was intrigued by the authors’ discussion of all of their topics.…

In my fourth picture, people were watching a certain foreign film, and some of those people may have been federal employees, subject to intense scrutiny from the FBI. Around 14,000 employees were subject to serious investigation. In anger, over 2000 employees quit their jobs during the loyalty hearings. Many of these hearings were conducted in the Library of Congress and Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley. At these hearings, over 200 employees were fired for questionable loyalty, although there was no true evidence that pointed to the lack of loyalty.…

the permanent campaign has been used for decades as a part of the American politics. Permanent campaign is when elected officials after getting elected use methods like the ones they used before getting elected such as hosting rallies, media campaign, and raising money. Therefore, the indicators and the characteristics of the president’s Permanent campaign are, traveling around, discussing initiatives and issues he plans to fix, holding rallies, and registering for reelection very early. The increased attentiveness to the public during the permanent campaign is not good for the American democracy.…

The cartoon I am analyzing is wildcard #1 of Constitutional Underpinnings. This cartoon symbolizes how our federal government is set up. In football, linebackers of opposing teams always tackle each other. This represents clashing of the Congress and the executive branch. Not only that, but in football games, sometimes one side overpowers the other.…

In the article published January 6, 2016 in the American Thinker titled “Obamas Gun Control Lies”, Michael Filozof is attempting to demonstrate that Obama is violating the Fifth Amendment of the Bill of rights by trying to introduce new and stricter laws in regards to gun control. He attempts to show the “lies” behind Obamas proposal and compares him to that of other dictators in history. The first paragraph of the article Filozof makes use of name calling and euphemisms, which speak more to his own bias opinions than to actual facts. He uses the euphemism “wept crocodile tears” to insinuate that Obama’s tears were more a show of insincere sorrow used only to gain the support the ignorant, clueless, and stupid.…

The creation of the Department of Homeland Security and establishment of the US Patriot Act was a result of the understanding that in order to have freedom, certain aspects of daily life would have to change. One aspect of change has been law enforcement’s move towards militarization, evolving from basic military like organizational structure to changes in uniform colors, equipment and vehicles. Citizens see this evolution as a “police vs citizens” stance rather than community oriented policing. The other and more clandestine policing problem has been the National Security Agency (NSA) and its domestic surveillance. While domestic surveillance is said to provide valuable evidence to prevent terrorism, it has resulted in whistleblowers like Edward Snowden leaking classified information exposing the extent of the surveillance and the infringement on personal privacy.…

In reference to the political picture, I feel the author is trying to convey the point that Donald Trump needs to humble himself (hence humble pie). As we all may already know, Donald Trump in known for his egotistic remarks and just in all being very cocky and boastful about everything that he does. I feel like in life, when you let your ego get in the way for the wrong reasons, let’s say for your own personal satisfaction, personal gain, nine times out of ten you’re going to need to take a back seat before you get yourself into destruction. Therefore, with Donald eating this “humble pie” is very much needed before his race comes unto an abruptly…

Because of the sensitive nature of terrorist attacks, all suspicions must be addressed. The USA Patriot can bypass the Fourth Amendment as a law enforcer can voice their suspicions on an individual or corporation based on assumptions (Evans, J., 2002). According to O’Meara, a research director by the name of Dave Kopel, mentioned that The USA Patriot Act even allows individuals to be put in powerless positions despite their nonexistent involvement in terroristic activities. Kelsey, I find this article, and opinions on what the economy will do during Trump's presidency interesting. It is good to read that there is a positive outlook on the effect of Trump's presidency on the economy, for some anyway. It caught my eye that in Manhattan, some have a very negative outlook and think that Trump will take our economy "over a cliff." Which leaves investors with the idea to dump their stocks and retreat to government bonds. Such differing outlooks interest me.…
