And the messages are mostly spread through publicity, and at times even controversy. Many times they’re exaggerated and sometimes straight fallacious.
I mean, do you really think Marie Antoinette had said, “Let them eat cake,” or Barry Goldwater would’ve destroyed the world with his fanatical interest in the experimentation of nuclear weapons? Of course not, they’re just assumptions, false rumors spread by the press or the competition.
Now the argument is that these negative campaigns are only led to expose the opposing candidate. But as noted before, many times these negative aspects are exaggerated and blown out of scale, until the President suddenly wants to blow the world up or isn’t a citizen of the country at all!

Nowadays politicians themselves, have started to act like the TMZ, backstabbing anyone, performing any task to sway the public and gain the advantage. The only thing voters think is, which politician's reputation is the least tarnished, and they get the vote.
John F. Kennedy had once said, “Mothers all want their sons to grow up to be president, but they don’t want them to become politicians in the process.” Unfortunately this remains impossible as only truly shrewd politicians can survive through the race of the presidential office.
But the solution of this problem resides within the public. Yes, us, all of us. If we don’t blindly follow these people, they would be forced to alter their usage of such negative propaganda. The common person needs to understand the woven stories presented to him, and look away, recognizing the threat they pose to the country and democracy as a whole.
