The op-ed I chose was Donald Trump Does Detroit by Charles M. Blow from the New York Times published on 9/5/16. The topic of the article was Donald Trump trying to get the black votes in Detroit. The author of the article is calling Donald Trump fake. Trump is saying what the people in Detroit want to hear for the votes by saying “we need a civil rights agenda of our time, one that ensures the rights to a great education and the right to live in safety and in peace and to have a really, really great job, a good-paying job.” But the author translates this to what Trump would really be doing in further weakening public education, flooding neighborhoods with police, and telling people to get off welfare and go get a job.
