In the last ten years alone there have been 26 mass shooting with the minimum of 6 dead (Moore, Garvey, Wagstaff). From school shooting to random killing sprees guns are the weapons of choice in every spree and almost all of them did not have permits for their weapons. To most people this proves that gun laws aren’t strict enough because access to guns is too easy. Currently it is so easy to get a gun that people with criminal records and those who are mentally unstable gain access to this dangerous tool. Because guns are also responsible for being the number one cause of accidental deaths in the United States, you would think that when owning something as dangerous as a gun, people would be somewhat careful; many don’t know how to safely use and/or store their weapon. It is because of this that children are finding guns and accidentally shooting themselves or others. Teenagers are also accessing their parent’s guns and using them to settle disputes or to rob an innocent by stander. When situations such as a teen killing another teen with a gun that belongs to their parents the question that follows is who to blame? I personally believe you first blame the parents because it is their responsibility to keep their firearms out of reach from their children. I then believe you blame the government for not having firm gun laws to force gun owners to store their firearms properly. To fix this problem we have no choice but to put some sort of strict law for gun owners to abide by. Force citizens to be at fault for the misuse of their weapons. If a child was to accidentally shoot itself it shouldn’t be declared as “accidental” this owner of the gun should be at fault for not storing their gun properly. Also, criminals should have less access to firearms. If someone was has a violent record they should be forced to surrender their rights to bare arms. In my opinion
