LeJuan James is a Puerto Rican and Dominican comedian who post his videos on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media site making fun of Hispanics parents. His videos are about growing up with Hispanic parent and he nails it all the time regardless if he is making fun of his Dominican mother or his Puerto Rican father. Even though Spanish is our first language our differences in culture, customs and values can sometimes create conflict because some of word and phrases are written the same, but have different meaning in the Spanish language.
I selected Dominican Republic because of are coworker Janet, who is Dominican and sometimes we have misunderstood each other because some of our words and meaning are significantly different since of our culture are differences.

Dominicans are known for their use of proverbs to emphasis wisdom and life lesson. Let me give you samples of the some of the phased they use. I will be saying them in Spanish because it sounds and them give the meaning in English because it sounds pretty, then, I will give the meaning in English. “Dios aprieta pero no ahoga.” Meaning God squeezes but does not choke. “A buen entendedor, pocas palabras” meaning Intelligent people understand with fewer word.” “Dime con quien anda y te dire quien eres.” Meaning the company you keep says a lot about you. This saying is like the English phrase “Birds of a feather flock
