However, in Tasmania a police officer under the family violence legislation, is allowed to enter a premise and remain on said premises without the need for a warrant and to be able to use as much force necessary to prevent family violence on a request from a person who resides on the premises; or the officer is allowed to enter the premises if the said officer reasonable suspects that family violence is being, has been, or likely to be committed on premises (Australian Government, 2010). As an opinion, family and domestic violence should be made illegal and for those who hit another person whether it be man, women or child, they should be locked up in jail for no less than one year. Some might say this is extreme, but with personal experience with dealing with a victim of family violence and the result that has caused, she will be living the rest of her life with the trauma and difficulties with everyday life because of PTSD and chronic night terrors that she relives her perpetrator haunting her daily life, hurting the ones she loves, even reliving the trauma day in and day out. A person should not have to go through that kind of pain while the perpetrator walks around free with no care in the world about the life they ruined. When the victim went to get help from the school, all they did was call the parents for confirmation which was denied, and next thing she knew she was pulled out of school and trapped with her abuser day in and day out for several years before she was able to move out, but even though she had moved out the abuse didn’t stop there. This or any kind of abuse deserves to be punished, and the police should have been the ones to be called not the parents, it was the schools job to protect her and they failed her. The world needs to be better when it comes to dealing with family and domestic violence, so we don’t fail other survivors of family and
