Dolly Parton received the nickname The Queen of Country Music after releasing more #1 hits than any other country singer in U.S. history. (famous birthdays) Before she became famous, she grew up alongside eleven brothers and sisters in a one-room cabin in Appalachia, Tennessee, and learned to sing at church. Dolly Parton, a woman who showed passion for what she does and wanted to share that with others, has changed many people's lives and education and should be recognized as a very big and important part of history. Dolly Parton has not just done music, she has also done many more amazing things for her community like the Dollywood Foundation, Donations for the Covid Vaccine, and Dolly Parton Library. Lots of people get overwhelmed and stressed doing school, which causes people to drop out. Dolly Parton wanted to give them a reason and get them excited for school. It is very important for kids to get an education because it helps people be able to get a job and have better daily knowledge. In the early 90’s, Dolly promised every 7th-grade and 8th-grade student she would personally give them $500 if they graduated from high school. This effort, called the Buddy Program, reduced the dropout rate for these two classes from 35% to 6%. More importantly, the program catalyzed the community to provide additional resources to sustain this improvement in the drop-out rate. The Dollywood Foundation. This shows the dedication Dolly had to getting students to finish high school. It also demonstrates how much she believed education was extremely important for everyone. She was clearly passionate about making a difference because she did whatever she thought was needed to change the dropout rate.
