When looking at religious beliefs from generations before us, the Judeo-Christian God, the creator, is referred to as “The essence of goodness, love, justice, compassion, and mercy; the protector of the innocent and the faithful; the enemy of the wicked and the infidel. God is pure spirit with no material substance and neither beginning nor end” (White, pg. 284). These arguments of God’s existence are believed to have not been established beyond suspicion. However, faithful believers suggest that truths observed in our environment can help to better explain that a God must exist.
These claims that a God must exist are based on empirical truths that rely on observable information …show more content…
“Paley and Aquinas say that this world is so wondrous that clearly its existence proves the existence not only of a God, but also of a good God. But is this world/watch of ours really so wonderful?” White, 291). The main objection to this argument of God and nature would be to ponder the question, why would God create a world filled with natural disasters, suffering and evil? Especially when he is referred to as being a good God. The best evidence supporting this is seen when reading the text under the problems of evil. “This problem of evil is particularly critical for the argument from design. After all, the properties and features of the world are precisely those things that reveal the nature of its creator. When we observe massive flaws, can we escape the conclusion that their creator is inept or evil- or that there never was a creator in the first place?” White 292) I feel that these are valid points to consider, but are they necessarily accurate? Let’s take into consideration natural disasters. For example earthquakes, I feel that this natural phenomenon are the Earths way of maintaining its existence. “Places like California are actually being elevated by these forces, and that allows life to flourish and prosper. Volcanoes do the same thing; but in addition, they add new elements and nutrients to the soil, making plant growth accelerate and sustaining …show more content…
Weighing in on all the empirical, observable evidence in nature such as the Fibonacci sequence and the elevated level of complexity observed in the environment it is hard to dispute that a creator did not partake in
