Take, for instance, the United States of America, a flourishing nation, which would still be subject to British law, if it weren’t for the Patriots, who were unwilling to abide by the British Monarch. By the Patriots disobedience to the rules and regulations enforced by Britain, a Revolutionary War occurred in which the colonies became a free nation, no longer ruled by King George III. Just recently, same-sex marriage has been legalized in certain countries, including the United States. Less than fifty years ago, the connotation for “same-sex” relationships was inherently negative in most societies. The change that has occured for the acceptance of “same-sex” relationships has been primarily because of protesters who spoke out against the social injustices that homosexuals faced by society. At first, those who supported “same-sex” relationships, were deemed as a disturbance and disruption to society, predominantly because these ideas questioned the morals that many had been taught from an early age. In fact, in the early 2000s, Katy Perry, an American Pop singer, released her first hit song “I Kissed a Girl”.
