SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CONCEPT
Disease and injury prevention can be likened to promotion of individual’s health, although more specifics in its contexts prevention of diseases and injuries require a proactive approach on the part of parents or guardians who is responsible for the care of the younger children.
Taking proactive measures to prevent disease and injuries helps to protect us and other persons as well and there by helps to lead a happier life in the community, prevention of diseases and injury is very important to the health of the individuals in the community, it helps to reduce the cost of hospitalization. It also helps to reduce the rate of mortality and disease in the communities.

The community can be educated on the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle by engaging in good nutrition, regular exercise to maintain the body posture and prevent certain diseases like obesity which can lead to diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Providing the appropriate health education in schools helps to inculcate a healthy habit in the children, they are able to learn at a tender age the important of maintaining a good health status, implementation of basic amenities in the school compound like providing safe drinking water, sanitary facilities, well-functioning lighting system and good nutrition helps the children to grow well and healthy.
They are taught the various risk habits that can leads to contacting different diseases or behaviours that can lead to accidents and injuries. Providing less risky tools in the school for lectures and social recreations help the children to stay out of danger.
Health care teams have more challenges than ever to implement preventive programmes to safe guard the health of the public by organizing health retreats or campaigns to sensitize the community on the appropriate preventive methods and precautionary
