So, this DC will send their members to other DCs, and as Gee said, people in this world are not only just in one DC, people are in mutable DCs at the same time (Gee). The members in OUSCSS could share Chinese culture in other DCs, such as in their class, they can invite their foreign friends to join in the Chinese events, or they could be a member in another DC, and propagate Chinese culture in this DC. This is a similar idea as Gee’s, and he called it as “discourse maps”. In his opinion, the “discourse maps” means that there is a boundary of one DC, but it could share their things for other DCs, or brings itself into a lager DC (Gee, 449). One example at this point is that OU runs an event called “EVE”, every year. This event is collecting all of international students and American students tighter, and let them to play a little show of their own countries (li). This is a chance to break to boundary of OUSCSS, and share the Chinese culture to a lager discourse, the OU discourse. In this event, every single group likes a country in a world map, and each group show some part of their boundary at that time. With the OUSCSS’s different characteristics, the social language, social identity, maps and discourse, this DC could achieve its goals easily. People all know that most international students cannot go back to their hometown frequently, and Chinese students only can go back to China once a year as well. With the helps from OUSCSS, they may not feel lonely and could adjust American life more quickly.
