(Exhibit C-1) The ALJ reviewed these expenses to determine if the expenses were causing financial duress for the CS. To analyze the development and the legislative history of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), it is important to discover the definition of disability as enacted by the United States Congress. “When Senators Weicker and Larkin first introduced the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA; Public Law No. 101–336 [1990]) in 1988, only 30 percent of people with disabilities in the United States were employed. Title I, the section of the ADA pertaining to employment discrimination, sought to address this persistent no employment among people with disabilities. The law served to extend antidiscrimination provisions of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Public Law No. 93–112 [1973]) to the private sector and to clarify congressional intent…

A disability might not place strain on social resources, but the lifestyle of a disabled individual is full of additional costs that the average non-disabled individual would not have. For example, if an individual has a physical disability they require special housing, a suitable transportation method, a caregiver and workplace accommodation. These hidden costs do not place immediate strain on society, but they result in a long-term societal problem. The average disabled child costs approximately $8742 in additional costs, and the average disabled adult costs an additional $21340 (Wilson, 2009). Therefore, allowing more disabled immigrants into Canada will have serious long-term repercussions on society and the disabled individual…

Traditional health insurance remains a principle concern for many American’s in which those without coverage yearn for it while those with coverage commonly struggle to understand their benefits. To put it differently, viewed as a necessity, health insurance never strays far from individual thought, whereas long-term care insurance (LTCI) remains off the radar. The most compelling evidence of this theory originates from a study conducted by the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI). The report, using 2012 statistics breaks down the age structure when people apply for LTCI into the following four age brackets. 1.…

The Fault in our Financial Aid Process Thousands of people dedicate their life to working in the financial aid field, and billions of people are sent financial aid daily; nevertheless, the system has flaws that must be modified. Financial aid is sent out to millions of people who do not use the money in the intended manner who, consequently, are stealing from our government. Government financial aid should be more strongly based on GPA, how many hours have been admitted into a job or career, community service hours, etc., because it would prevent the government from providing financial aid to individuals who are inadequate. Nevertheless, government financial aid is predominantly helpful to millions of people all over the world with thousands…
