There are several characteristics that make the taiga forest biome different from the others. It has lots of coniferous trees, or evergreens. The weather in the Taiga …show more content…
The weather in these forest biomes is warm and humid, typically between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit for much of the year. Forty percent of the world’s oxygen is produced in these forest biomes, which makes them extremely important for people. Rainforest biomes are filled with trees, plants, and fascinating animals that live in different layers of the rainforest.
The top portion of trees in the rainforest biome, which can be more than 100 feet in height, is called the canopy. The canopy acts like an umbrella and shades the lower layers from the sun. The majority of animals and plants in the rainforest live in the canopy layer, such as birds, monkeys, and even reptiles. The understory layer is next down from the canopy layer, and contains mostly canopy branches and trunks. It also home to shrubs and shorter trees as well as big predators, such as leopards and snakes. You will also find iguanas, bats, owls, insects, and many other animals in this layer.
The bottom layer of the rainforest biome is called the forest floor. Because little sun reaches this layer, you will find lots of spiders and insects in it. The animals found in this layer include snakes, pigs, and deer. There are some very tall trees that grow higher than trees that make up the canopy layer. Some scientists call this the emergent
