The Maze Runner Movie And Book Comparison Essay

“Lame…” is what I thought to myself once I finished watching the movie “The Maze Runner.” In my opinion, I thought that The Maze Runner book was way better than the movie. When I read the book, I believe I was a sophomore in Ms. Brown’s class and I shockingly liked the book. The reason why I say shockingly is because I never read books and when I do, I rarely like them. After we read the book we watched the movie, and I thought that it was a real disappointment. There are three reasons why the book was way better than the movie and those are the details, scenes, and imagination. To begin with, the book had a substantial amount of detail compared to the movie. Specifically, while reading the book, all the characters were introduced with a …show more content…
Firstly, the movie was lacking a lot of detail. For instance, I thought that the book had every little detail that was needed to create a great image of the Maze. Hence, with your imagination, you can create anything, but with a film, you can only work so much because in a movie not everything is possible. Therefore, when reading The Maze Runner all the imagery and descriptions were astounding and overall gave a better image with imagination. Secondly, the movie just does not feel the same as when you are reading the book. Specifically, while watching the movie you are just an observer and just don’t feel the same type of suspense and feelings you get when reading a book. The book almost made it feel as I were in it. Thus, just by observing you don’t feel the same type of way when reading the book. Thirdly, the movie just plain out disappointing. Case in point, I thought there was a lot of things wrong with the movie. For example, “The Glade” looked a lot different than I thought. In my head, I had an image of a small town or village with kind of normal looking houses, but it was the exact opposite. Therefore, the movie was just horrendous and was just a big disappointment. In conclusion, the book surpasses the movie by having a greater imagination, suspense, and movie

Although we have not finish watching the movie completely, as of now, I favor the book over the movie. I find many of the major aspects in the book lost within the movie. First of all, the movie is has no first person narrator. The main character still remains as McMurphy but the significance of Chief Bromden is lost. He is played out as a minor character in the movie.…

He maintained the integrity and elements of the story that inflicted suspense and impacted the reader and translated them through film. The major difference between the film and the story is the length of time it takes to tell it and the order of events. The story gives you exactly what you need to know, every detail is important to the comprehension of the story. The film adds a bit of filler information, elaborating on events. The actors who portray the characters are appropriately selected and enhance the visual side of the account.…

Being able to actually see the violence along with sound effects made everything seem more real and exciting. Reading the book made all of the details and the plot seem more dull, but the movie was not dull at all. It was easier to have an emotional attachment to the story when the details of it are greater in the film. On a final note, what would have happened if Ender Wiggin never saved humanity from the…

Also, the characters portrayal is much different when comparing the book and movie. Lastly, there is a significant difference in the chemistry and feelings of love, at least that are portrayed in the book are nonexistent in the movie. One major aspect that plays a large role in book to movie adaptations is the screenwriter’s ability to transform the book. The screenwriter must be able to not only transform the book, but he must have the critical adaptability to make it successful. “This involves first distribution, then audience reception.”…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…

I remember around one year back when I first watched "The Maze Runner", I can whole-heartedly say that I loved it. I thought the acting was spot on, the direction was superb and the writing, surprisingly, close to James Daschner's source material. If you frequent this blog often, you know that I'm an avid reader, you may also know that I loved the novel "The Maze Runner", but you'll also remember my trepediation to continue on with the series, given that the reviews for the remaining novels drop rather precipitously. I didn't take the plunge and read the remaining novels - too many books, too little time - but, I did decided to splurge and go to the cinema and watch the movie on this wondrous fall day. So what are my thoughts?…

One of the most asked questions when comparing a book to a movie is which one is better. When someone takes the time to read the book, and admire the magnificent teen literature being held in their hands, the book is by far the better of the two. The book brings in more emotion, more characters, and a few of those minor details…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
