Having mastered the art of growing and fashioning a beard, which I have covered in previous blogs, the next issue is what style.
When it comes to shaving for men, style is very much down to personal choice. However, when deciding on a style, one needs to consider what shape face one has, as you would when choosing a pair of shades or glasses.
Every face is very different, and as well as style, one needs to consider length, which I will come to. Other factors will of course include the shape of the various parts of the head, such as the mouth, the contour of the jaw line, your nose etc.

For the rounder face you can use the beard to lengthen out the shape by having the beard longer at the chin. Keep the sides short with length at the chin, and you will give the appearance of a longer face. One option to consider is the classic goatee.
With a square face you want to trim of the edges a bit, so applying the converse principle of the round head style of beard, you want it thicker at the sides and shorter at the chin. Sometimes long side burns can help lengthen the face. You want the transition from the side to the chin to be as subtle as possible, so grade it gently. A goatee will work, but don't make it to narrow, and remember to retain length in the chin.
Long Face
With a long face, you don't want to accentuate the length, so the reverse principle of the round face is the way to go. Thicken out the sides, and this will give the face a thicker appearance.
