“If no changing is required and you are on the top, then management is essential but not leadership because leadership is always about change not mobilising people.” Although Table 2-2 presents the difference of a leader and manager, practically it may not be particular accurate. Some factors may lean towards leadership skills and others may lean towards management skills. For instance, Bennis (1989) does not support that leaders will always seek for changes because sometimes leaders refer retain the status quo as it suit them from the personal perspective. Dissatisfaction with the current situation (suppose management skills) could also drive change and lead to challenges.
