Dietary Guidelines Paper

Could you ever fathom your child going to school and being able to pick anything they wanted for lunch? Are could you imagine going to the store and purchasing ideas with no nutrition labels? This and more frightening situations could be reality if there were no Dietary Guidelines. Dietary guidelines affect everything from the labeling on store bought food, to the food choices that are available in the hospital, down to the food children have to eat in their school cafeteria. In my research I will discuss how the dietary guidelines were developed, why it is important that they were developed, the recommendations of the 2010 and 2015 Recommended Dietary Guidelines, the differences between the 2015 and 2010 Dietary Guidelines and my feelings …show more content…
The 2015 Dietary Guidelines are divide into three chapters the first being “healthy eating and physical activity patterns, focuses on the first three Guidelines”, “follow a healthy eating pattern across the lifespan”; “focus on variety, nutrient density, and amount”; and “limit calories from added sugars and saturated fats and reduce sodium intake.”4 The next chapter focus on the “shift to healthier food and beverage choices.”4 The third and final chapter focuses on supporting “healthy eating patterns for all.”4 The 2010 Dietary Guidelines are arranged into five chapters, the 2010 guidelines puts more emphasis on stopping obesity and chronic disease.3 Whereas the 2015 Guidelines gives more details in to living a more healthy life overall so that obesity and chronic disease are not a opinion. The same epidemic that was plaquing Americans then is the same epidemic that is plaguing them now, because of that, these issues were able to be researched even further. So even though this publication of the Dietary Guidelines are shorter then the 2010 editions it is packed with even more detailed information on health and
