Diesel Mechanic Career

For my career I chose to be a diesel mechanic, I chose to go into this career for many reasons. Some of the reasons are because first, I want to be this because I like diesel trucks especially diesel trucks and I feel like I would enjoy working with them and fixing them every day. Some of the duties as a diesel mechanic are things such as; follow a checklist of inspection procedures. Also, test drives vehicles to diagnose malfunctions, and read and interpret diagnostic test results, often by using dials, gauges, and other computer equipment. Next you have to raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists and also inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles. I will be going to receive an associate’s degree in diesel mechanics. The total tuition and fees is $27,326. I want to go to this college because it is a very good school and has a graduation rate of 97%, also because it is not far away from Greeneville. Some of the scholarships that I can receive is the Education Maters Scholarship 2015, Cash Course “My Story” Essay, NACE Eastern Area Scholarship.

Lastly, some of the classes I can take in high school to help me with my career is, Automotive Technology at Vo-Tech, Welding at Vo-Tech, all of my algebra classes will help me with my career in the future because my job involves a lot of math skills, and also Ag. Shop. In Conclusion, I think that my being a diesel mechanic would be a good job for me, there is not a lot of education requirements, also there is a lot of room for improvement and promotions in this
