Shakespeare, the author of the play Hamlet, uses metaphors and imagery to develop the character Hamlet as a depressed and unstable man. In his soliloquy, he talks about how death is nothing more than an endless dream in a form of a metaphor: “To die, to sleep, - No more - and by a sleep, to say we end the heartache and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to-...” (5 - 8). Hamlet compares death to sleep as if it’s a normal thing to happen, which is technically true. But, if anyone believes in something like that, it’s often a sure sign that the person is depressed, and, as like Hamlet, they are accepting to the concept of death taking them.…

    1) What are the setting and the time period of this play, and how do you see these factors (given circumstances) impacting the lives of the characters? Be sure to include the name of the play. (5 points) "As You Like it," a play composed by William Shakespeare was initially set in the time period of the early 1600’s; however, thanks to a clever ingenious director of this play, Rick Lombardo was able to give the production a slightly modern twist. Due to the initial time period set by William Shakespeare, I believe the director intended the play to have an older time period, but for comedic effect, the play does contain some modern elements. The time period greatly impacted the overall setting of the play and considerably affected the overall…

The entire movie follows the exact script, making it easier for the audience to follow along. Throughout the movie the three scenes that stood out for Branagh compared to the other two versions are the mousetrap scene, Ophelia’s Mad Scene, and the Final scene.…
