Diaper Changes

Decent Essays
Diaper-changing areas must be cleaned after every diaper change to prevent bacteria, particularly E. coli found in stool, from thriving in the child-care home or center. The changing area should have an easily cleanable surface, like a vinyl pad. Some centers may opt to use a disposable pad on top of the vinyl pad to reduce cleanup. Following a diaper change, clean the area with soap and water and rinse with clean water.Spray with bleach-based disinfectant solution thoroughly and allow to air dry; Cloth toys can be washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer to disinfect them; however, many centers prefer to avoid cloth toys. Stuffed cloth toys used by a single child can be washed weekly, rather than daily.

The US public health service released a training video in 1961 that demonstrated recommended hand washing techniques for healthcare workers. The video recommended washing hands with soap and water for one to two minutes before and after coming in contact with a patient.…
