This form of diagnostic testing provides healthcare professionals with imaging on a specific area of the body with the ability to differentiate between blood vessels, necrotic, and healthy tissue (Pagana & Pagana, 2014). A Karl Storz image is an enhanced visualization system performed with the use of an endoscopic device to evaluate an individual’s internal organs (Magdeburg & Kaehler, 2016). This form of diagnostic testing can be applied before and during a patient’s laparoscopic appendectomy to maintain a continual visual evaluation of the appendix (Magdeburg & Kaehler, 2016). These identifiable components in the Karl Storz image contributed to the diagnosis for the patient with an acute appendicitis with perforation. Additionally, this diagnostic testing method is expected to be utilized intraoperatively by healthcare professionals, as having this visualization is a helpful aid for the surgical team to utilize during the appendix extraction. Overall both MRI and Karl Storz images were incorporated into the patient’s care to make a definitive diagnosis for the patient’s medical condition during

The liver and kidneys may be palpable in normal individuals, but any other masses are abnormal. An enlarged liver that is firm or hard with an irregular edge or surface suggests hepatocellular carcinoma while an enlarged liver with a firm, non-tender edge is suggestive of cirrhosis (Bickley, 2012). Any form of tenderness on abdominal palpation is abnormal. The degree of the tenderness can give a clue as to the origin of the pain.
