Being able to identify bumps, inflammation, tissue mutilation, growths, and the overwhelming news of the sex of an unborn child all have one thing in common, an ultrasound. Diagnostic medical sonography, more commonly referred to as ultrasound, is a growing area of the health care sector with excellent job prospects. Sonographers are skilled clinicians who perform ultrasound studies as ordered by physicians for their patients. The images created by sonographers are then used to determine a medical diagnosis.
