Crime has an affect that can cause individuals “to withdraw physically and psychologically from community life,” (Skogan, 1986). Crime can disrupt the process of how neighbourhoods renew themselves on word when crimes in areas worsen, neighbourhoods caught up with them van quickly decline (Skogan, 1986). Many people who cannot move out of their neighbourhoods to a nicer one is because they are unwilling to move or cannot sell their house. This can cause loneliness and also a lack of community attachment, because the fear of crime strains people to live in fear, however, this is not the only problem. A problem that is brought up due to crime is the decline of real estate values. A survey data that was done by Taub Taylor and Dunhams (1984), indicated that because of the dissatisfaction with safety, perceived risk of victimisation in the area, and actual victimisation, many individuals evaluations and investment plans are affected. A case study done by Skogan and Maxfield (1981) deals with victimisation and fear. This case was done in Chicago and found that many people felt unsafe to go outside when it's dark, and this is the people who live in higher crime rates community. Many of the crimes that individuals reported as bug crimes were robbery and aggravated assault . This stimulates fear in a lot of communities.
