Deviance: Breach Of Social Norm

When I think of the term deviance, the words that tend to come across my mind will be strange, inappropriate, and rule breaking. This is because deviance is an explanation for behaviors or actions that breaches social norms, be it for formal breaching or informal breaching of social norms. Thus, it is some sort of rule breaking because deviant behaviors are those that breach the social norms, which is like a rule for the society. Deviance may be action or behaviors that are inappropriate because it deviates from what is appropriate in the society. Besides that, it may appear to be strange as well because it is not what a people will usually do. In my opinion, criminals will consider as deviant. For instance, Ted Bundy will be considered as a deviant because he breach the social norm by assaulting and murdering young women and girls in the 1970s. I still remember discussing about him one of my psychology classes and what he does and thinks do appear to be deviant to me. He exploited them by winning their trust through his handsome and charismatic look before overpowering and assaulting them. Out of all the deviant acts, the one that is most serious form would be the ones that inflict pain or harm to oneself or other. This form is the most serious in my opinion because it is creating harm to one’s life be it physically or emotionally. For instance, committing homicide where one is taking one’s life and raping someone where one is creating psychological harm to one’s mental health. These are the most serious forms of deviant act in my opinion and should be curb immediately. Humans should be caring for one another and not hurting one another, moreover taking one’s life or hurting someone emotionally and
