The passage I chose is Deuteronomy 6:4-9. The rationale is that these parishioners seem to be faithful believers who attend Sunday school and all church activities. Yet, their life styles and priorities do not worthy of the calling they have received. (Eph. 4:1) I chose the passage of “Shema” because I want to use this passage to remind and encourage them to love God fully and do not be nominal Christians.

The purpose is to get their attention and to let them feel what it is like when Israelites recite it. Then, I will provide some background of the passage.
I will ask them to think what it actually means to love God with all of our hearts, souls, and strength. Then, I will use Deuteronomy 6:6-9 to explain Deuteronomy 6:4-5. The purpose is to point out what the author’s explanations related to heart, soul, and strength or might.
Revelation: What aspects of the Bible passage are central for the students to know and understand? How can you get the students to personally engage with the biblical text and discover needed insights into the main idea from the text? What will you do to make key aspects of the text clear and memorable to students?
The aspect of “all” is the central of the passage the students need to reflect on. I will elaborate what is “all” about. I will then question and challenge the students that do they really put “all” of themselves to God. I will use some graphics or metaphor to show what “all in” or without holding back
