According to the Detroit Free Press, law enforcement agencies across the state of Michigan have received an estimate of forty-three million dollars worth of equipment since 2006, including seventeen armored personnel carriers, nearly 1,800 M16 rifles and nine grenade launchers (used to launch tear gas). It is safe to say that Michigan has taken full advantage of program 1033 and officers should be familiar with the research.
The following questions were asked to police officers within the Clinton Township, Warren, and Detroit Police Departments as well as the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
