Love is what makes a person feel comfortable in a space. I feel comfortable when at home. I am able to express my opinion about anything and not be judged. Home is where I can walk around in my mismatched clothes, wearing them inside out and backwards, without doing my hair and still get treated the same. In the story “The Best Gift of My Life” Cynthia Rylant dreams of a nicer home, but her being around her home is where she is most comfortable. Rylant expresses, “As long as I stayed in Beaver, I felt I was somebody important. I felt pretty and fun.” In a way, I feel similar to Rylant. Home is where I am most comfortable, but when I am away from home, I still feel like somebody, unlike Rylant. I know it is what everyone says and it may sound very cliché, but it true. Without my family my life would be much different. I cannot imagine being far away from them. They support me, care for me, and always look up for my best interest. When I come home from a trip, I do not look forward to seeing my bed, the kitchen, or my sauna, I look forward to seeing my family. Personally, I do not care what my house looks like. Without them inside, it would just be a house, not my home. In the story “Home” by Gwendolyn Brooks, their house is not perfect, but they believe it is because that is where the characters are together as a family: “‘It 's just going to kill Papa’ burst out Maud Martha, ‘He loves this house! He lives for this house!’ ‘He lives for us’ said Helen. ‘It’s us he loves. He wouldn 't want the house, except for us’.” Helen expresses that family is most important in their situation. She is saying that the family is what makes their house important. It does not matter what type of house a person lives in, where it is, or what is inside of it. What really matters is who is inside of
