Conceptual-theoretical-empirical (C-T-E) system of nursing knowledge provides a base for guiding the nursing discipline and recognizes who are nurse, the purpose and process of nursing. Through the melding of past, present and future components of nursing knowledge C-T-E increase not only the understanding of nursing, but controls the outcomes of the discipline of nursing. To gain a better understanding of the development of C-T-E and to grasp a better understanding of this base, Fawcett (2005) discussed general aspects of models of nursing knowledge, basic elements for its development and practice and for the advancement of the discipline of nursing. Limiting it to “just guide nursing practice”, stagnates the discipline as the handmaiden of the physician. C-T-E takes the foundations of nursing knowledge to a higher level of critical thinking and critical reasoning to practically apply the science of nursing through evidence based processes, within the healthcare environment (Fawcett & Desanto-Madeya, 2013). Recognizing that the discipline of nursing surpasses just the individual components of nursing knowledge, but is a sum of all the components past and
