Are we ready for an America made one quarter of genetically abnormal persons? Yet, this is how America will be, if fertilized eggs are given legal personhood. Fertilized eggs are single celled embryos which are incapable of survival on their own. Granting them legal personhood will be against the interests of humanity. It will invariably politicize the matter, interfere with research that can potentially revolutionize healthcare, deprive men and women of the right to choose the fate of their sex cells, and drive up healthcare costs on a logarithmic scale.…

Similarities from the yolk stages of many organisms make it easy for scientists to relate their research to other organisms for stronger results. “The fish, amphibian, and chicken embryos were like nothing I had ever seen before in biology. They all looked generally alike” (98). Knowing how similar these organisms are in the yolk stages helps scientists understand the differences in the development of these organisms. The yolk stages really define how a-like these organisms are and how we have a inner-fish, inner-frog, inner-anything.…

The cane toad reproductive system especially of male consists of the fat bodies and this cannot be found in a reproductive system of a common brushtail possum. The process of how sperm travels is also different between the two animals. In a common brushtail possum, the sperm travels through the vasa deferentia, which transports the sperm from the epididymis to the urethra (Venugopal, 2016. pg 3.5). While in a cane toad the vasa efferentia helps carry the sperm from the testes to the kidney and then through the archinephric duct, then through the ovisac and finally empties into the cloaca (Minkoff, 2013m pg 75-76).…

Martin describes the inequalities between men and women that are displayed in science textbooks. The imbalances are shown most often when describing the scientific explanation of conception. Martin analyzes numerous scientific works and identifies numerous differences between describing female and male natural bodily functions, including sperm production, menstruation, conception and many other natural occurrences. Martin uses several logical fallacies and the Aristotelian appeals to solidify her argument, which…

In the Development of the Chick Embryo lab, I carefully cracked eggs and observed the chick during the many different stages of its development. After successfully cracking the egg, I had to identify each part of the embryo and see how it’s changed throughout its short pre-life cycle. Out of the nine eggs we started with in the beginning, only two had hatched. I discovered that there were still some eggs leftover that either possessed a dead embryo or did not obtain one at all. Coming into the lab, I knew the process would relate to a human’s development.…
