The civil war is a well known in the United States. The war was fought from 1861 to 1865. The civil war was mainly fought by two states, the free states and slave states. During the civil war, the seven southern slave states, including South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas formed an alliance called Confederate States of America. This Confederacy states also called the South. Those states that were in the union were California, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. New York had about 850,000 inhabitants that proved that New York had a better plantations and economic. Besides that, almost one quarter of the North was urban areas.
