When I was twelve I went through a rough time, my grandmother passed away at almost the same time as my best friend. Being an emotional child it hit me hard, sparking a depression. Few months go by and I haven't gotten any better with my condition. A field trip to the local vocational school found a way to ignite a fire in my heart again. Caramelizing onions filled my nose, the aroma filled me with happiness for some reason, an emotion I hadn't felt for almost a full year. It was then I knew I was meant to be in the kitchen for the rest of my life. For years to come I expanded my culinary knowledge when I could. I read cooking magazines, I watched the Food Network, went to a summer program for Culinary Arts, and in high school I participated
