What Are Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants are something that may be recommended by a cosmetic dentist. Sealants are made up of plastic materials. They are placed on the premolars and molars to prevent cavities. In some cases, sealants are placed on other teeth. Tooth decay has a tendency to start early in life. That is why cosmetic dentists often recommend that children get sealants.

Dental sealants are a form of preventative dentistry. They are typically recommended for children who are between the ages of six and 14. Sealants are typically applied to permanent teeth, but they may also be placed on baby teeth.
