Right now the military has 610 billion dollars of spending money allocated to them. That is more money than the next seven top military spending countries combined, with China, the second largest spender, only allocating around 35% of what we spend at 216 billion dollars. The Democrats carries a stance that the nation needs to have a military budget that reflects the needs of the military currently. Since the U.S is not in a state of war, we don’t need such a big military budget, especially when we are in so much debt. They believe in cutting military budget to what it needs, and makes it clear that they don’t support “short changing” it’s spending. The Republicans, who prioritizes national defence as a governmental role, feels like the nation needs to actually increase the military budget. They feel as if the military has been weakened over the years of budget cuts, and that it needs to be restored to the military of the past. The majority of Republicans also believe in “peace by force” in which having an overpowering military will bring countries together in peace. Which I personally believe is utter
