Room 0742 is a studio design room located in king pavilion at the Iowa State University college of design. In a way it represents the beginning of my journey at Iowa State, for it is the first class room I had ever been in as a student, and its represents hours and hours of hard work and dedication to my major. It is a rather bittersweet place with times where it became a place to put my work on display as well as a place to spend many long nights and very early mornings working and developing. The space itself physically is not a room by traditional means it has no doors and stall like walls that rise above the ground six to eight inches as well as an opening at the top.…

Quarters Housing To gain perspective of the student life at The Quarters, we interviewed four current tenants, with two attending Kirkwood, and two attending the University of Iowa. The ten questions asked ranged from accessibility to campus, transportation, amenities, cost balancing, and knowledge over the controversy. In their answers, there are some notable commonalities as well as a few differences. When asked how important housing was in regards to the closeness of campus, three students answered with a 4 on a five point scale and one gave a 3 on a five point scale. All stated that they had multiple forms of transportation, such as cars, the busing system, or friends which made living further away from campus easier.…

In Morgan’s school, housing facilities were not even thought about at first. This wasn’t really a concerning issue because the students all hailed from the county and they could continue to live at home with their families. Once the medical school grew more and more popular, students started to come from all over the colony and even other nearby colonies. Eventually, dormitories seemed to become extremely necessary because students who lived far…

I am currently enjoying my senior year here at California High School. Although I consider many of my classes to be easy here, the weight of all of this year's homework is already being felt. It is my firm belief that for the sake of our students, a study hall is needed. More than 70% of students in our school are involved in extracurricular activities. I am currently involved in Boy Scouts, band, drumline, youth group, spanish club, math team, academic team, FBLA and also have a part-time job as a bagboy at Cal’s Thriftway to provide the money to save up for college and drive to school to go to all of the club meetings and practices.…

I believe the key responsibility for a Residential Assistant is to build an effective community. To create a positive and productive community, residential assistants should be open, disciplined, and compassionate. Living in a society that is comprised of people from different cultural and social backgrounds, it is important for a RA to emphasize an open environment. An open environment will allow residents to feel secure and comfortable to express themselves, and it will protect individualities of each student.…

The main problem that we plan to run into is funding. Seton Hall already provides a smaller and not as well put together commuter lounge. We suppose it will be difficult to convince them that a new and improved lounge is a smart use of their money. This problem will be tackled with simple statistics. Currently commuters make up about 35% of the population here at Seton Hall which means their is a definite need to please these students who make up such a large part of the school's population.…

As a first time student attending Spokane Falls Community College, I honestly thought that the only buildings and areas of campus involving my class schedule would be of importance. Little did I know that one room I would encounter would become my safe haven. I remember the first day stepping out onto campus and all I saw was a giant riddle waiting to be solved so many parking spaces, buildings, rooms, classes, and students. The anticipation bubbling up inside of me was exciting and rooted with a little nervousness. I was searching for place to keep me focused on my goal of being a successful student, a place to refresh between rigorous lectures.…

Dear White People (2014) is a movie based on a fictional Ivy League college called Winchester. The school is predominantly white, which leads to several culture clashes that result in a “Release Your Inner Negro” party held by one of the most prestigious houses at the school. The movie explores racial identities of the diverse black cast in order to create a social commentary on issues that students still face today. The main student we follow is Sam White, a biracial film and media student who is a big advocate for black student rights and the BSU. I believe this movie is crucial and should be implemented within every school curriculum because it gives examples of racism, microaggressions, and many other race based aggressions that should…
