Definition of wahy To define the meaning of wahy or revelation in Islam, we will be dividing it into two semantic meaning which is “sur’ah” and “kafyah”. In Arabic word, “sur’ah” is promptness or quickness. Meanwhile, the meaning of “kafyah” is secrecy. Literally the meaning of wahy is giving a message secretly and quickly. In that case, only for those people who receive the revelation are fully aware of the messages and the way how it is revealed due to the fact that the authenticity of wahy need to be protected from being corrupted. It was started when Fir’awn had a bad dream about something that will happen to him in which there will be a young man who will go against him one day.
