It is the activity of a person who understands the goal of an activity and therefore does, or does not, do it with a certain understanding of that goal in mind.” (Mattison 48) Anyone, anything, can have an intentional action where you have a goal and you make it happen, but it takes a free action for someone to understand that goal and understand what they do to accomplish this goal. In the essay “Marine Parks”, in The Power of Critical Thinking by Bill Daly, Daly’s main claim is that marine parks that house dolphins, whales and other marine mammals, have become a contentious issue. He goes into detail in his critique of the issues, and argues against the necessity of these institutions, some of which are still in operation. The author gathers different arguments from other people that argue for or against having marine parks open; as well as arguments that are in support of maintaining the parks, which some claim is of economic and scientific value. Below I intend to present arguments on this issue, and introduce some critical evaluations, as well as my personal opinion. The author, while arguing against the maintaining of marine parks, brings forward other people’s views as evidence to support his position.…
