Definition Essay: The Meaning Of My Name

A name is a part of your identity given to you at birth, and kept with you until the rest of your life. In today’s society, many unique names can be found, such as Zuko and Katara, and many common names like Jack and Sarah. Throughout time, names have been passed down from generation to generation, while others carry a deep and enlightening meaning behind it. For example, in the Native American tribe, the Navajos, the name Nizhoni is given to a female and means beautiful in their distinctive and fascinating culture. Some individuals may assume that people with unique names dislike their names, for they are constantly pronounced incorrectly. However, numerous people with unique names, including myself, like their first name. I like my first name because it is original, contains an extraordinary meaning and the many nicknames I get from my friends and peers. The dictionary definition of originality is to be created directly and personally by a particular artist; not a copy or imitation. Various names tend to be based off of ideas, natural phenomenon and physical attributes found in the mortal world. For example names can be based off of astronomy, seasons, colors, countries ext. In most Middle Eastern households, kids usually have a nickname apart from their real name. My nickname is Sadi, and all my family member and family friends all call me it.
