The Hindu religion believes that there are several different gods that they find spirit in and they pray to these gods for different things on different occasions. Hinduism also believes in practicing the art of Yoga which is a form of meditation which helps to release energies throughout the body. Hindus believe that it is bad karma to kill animals for food, so most avoid eating meat. Not all Hindus though don’t eat meat, but most do not eat beef because they feel the cow is sacred to their gods (Hinduism, n.d.). Nidhi discussed shortly with me that being a Hindu was not anything that was difficult when she grew up at home, because it was natural to her. Her parents practiced the Hindu religion, she was used to meditating routinely, and she was used to following the Hindu food beliefs at home. When she went to college though, the waters were tested there. She was now around a large group of people that did not follow the same religious beliefs that she did. People did not meditate as her family did and many of her new friends were eating things that her family never had before. It was an eye opener in that sense because she never truly had to think about those things at home, because it was always second nature for her
