“Let’s just be honest. Let’s just be real. Let’s just be honest. We all know the deal. Let’s just be honest. Let’s just be real” is a popular duo song performed by African American female artist knows as Dej Loaf Ft. Kid Ink. It climbed the charts upon its release in 2015. Many young people enjoyed this fresh new track with its hip sounds and exotic beats. But the common theme in this song is “Honest” but what does honesty mean? Merriam-Webster defines honesty as, “the quality of being fair and truthful: the quality of being honest” (Merriam-Webster n.p). Etymology Online Dictionary defined by scribes in the early 14c. Defined it as, “splendor, honor; elegance,” then as time went on defined it as “honorable position; the propriety of behavior, good manners; virginity, chastity”. Honesty can be defined in different ways based on the circumstance, it is applied to.
Honesty can take its own form of a relationship. Honesty in a relationship could be devoting ones all your significant other, sharing all things personal or touchy to produce a cohesive unity both unbreakable and unfathomable. Honesty as a man in

It can reveal itself as a revelation or epiphany about something that is affects a person negatively or positively. It can be shown through and act or words of a person. When you look at honesty in self you are looking how you think about you. This also works in cohesion with the phrase self-esteem. Self-esteem is the way ones views themselves. So, honesty as it relates to self, is the way you feel about one’s self. An example of this would be dressing oneself. Depending on the way you dress yourself for the day will determine the way you will give way to own honest opinion of self. If you dress in sweatpants, a dark hoodie and some old sneakers one’s honest opinion of his or her self could be that he or she feels like crap, looks like a hot mess or they aren’t at their best.
