The Merriam Webster Dictionary states “professionalism is the skill, good judgment, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well.” I would also include strong morals, ethics, honesty and commitment. Nurses are expected to display good behavior and a good attitude at all times. Nursing is a demanding but rewarding profession. As health care professionals, we care for people at their worst. It is not always easy to be pleasant and understanding as we are human too. We have an important responsibility to help others in need and not let them down.
