When I hear the word diversity the first thing that comes to mind is the differences that people have. These differences can be gender, race, religion, careers, or income class. After reflecting on my thoughts of diversity, I asked my kindergarten class to tell me what they thought that word meant. One of my students said “it means being different.” Others responded with “What does that word mean?” “Is that an animal?” and “That's a cool word, can you teach us about it?” Finally, I turned to Merriam- Webster Dictionary to see what they define the word diversity as. I read the first definition, but liked the second one better. It states “an instance of being composed of differing elements or qualities.”
