Case conceptualization is nothing more than a formula, provided to counselors to assist them, when they are in the process of making treatment plans for clients. It is often structured to the need of the client so that they receive the best treatment for their particular case. The process of case conceptualization is an integral part of the counseling process, and are driven by the theoretical framework of the counselor. According to Kwon, (2007), counselors should consider factors such as ethnicity/race, sexuality, family of origin, socioeconomic status, and developmental history when formulating a conceptualization of a client or client system.
