There is no such thing as a good or bad decision, it’s just the ideas and the thinking of the person that can create the outcome of making that decision. In Romeo’s case, it was the lack of thinking that caused all the problems in the tragedy. Romeo was so desperate for love that he made a rash decision to go to the Capulet party. He knew there would be consequences before he entered the house, especially since he is a Montague, but he ultimately went. Romeo’s decision to attend the Capulet’s party proved to create a conflict in the tragedy since a new enemy and an ill-fated lover aroused. From their first meeting Romeo and Juliet didn’t have any understanding that this stranger they just kissed was their sworn enemy. Juliet expresses, clearly heartbroken, “My only love sprung from my only hate!/ Too early seen unknown, and known too late!/ Prodigious birth of love it is to me,/ That I must love a loathed enemy”(1.5.197-200). Juliet’s hopes are demolished when she learns that Romeo’s name is a Montague, the only name she hates. Juliet realizes that she is in love with her foe, and won’t stop because of a preposterous feud. This foreshadows the play by making it seem Romeo and Juliet will have to overcome many difficulties to continue their love. Romeo creates a secret “star-crossed lover” by falling in love with Juliet at the party, and will have to figure out how to make their love stay kindled. Romeo realizes this will turn out to be a problem by divulging, “Is she a Capulet?/ O dear account! my life is my foe's debt… Ay, so I fear; the more is my unrest”(1.5.164-165,169). Romeo recognizes that his fate is in his only enemy’s hands, and that he just opened up two brand new doors of trouble. Romeo manages to fall in love with the one girl he’s not allowed to. Meanwhile, Tybalt sees Romeo as a threat and begins to plot revenge against him.
